Your Trade Settles by Rules Everyone Can Read

Category: getting-started · Updated: August 20, 2026

Your trade settles by rules everyone can read. No manager approves it. No company can change it after the fact. That is what "trustless" means here, and it is why you do not have to trust us.

On a normal exchange, a company runs the show. It matches orders, sets prices, and can pause or change things when it wants. You trust that it will behave. On OmniBazaar, the important parts are run by code, not by people.

The rules are written down and public

The code that settles your trade is a program anyone can read. Crypto people call these "smart contracts." A smart contract is just a list of rules that runs itself. Once it is live, nobody — not us, not you — can quietly rewrite it.

So a deal follows the same rules for everyone, every time. There is no manager's discretion to appeal to or argue with.

No single company can fake a price

Prices matter. If one company supplies the price, that company can lie. OmniBazaar builds prices differently. Several independent validators each report the price, and the system uses the middle value. No single company controls the number you see.

Think of it like a panel of referees, not one referee. If one validator reports a fake price, the others disagree and it is ignored. To move the price, an attacker would have to control most of the validators at once.

You never trust us with your money

We never hold your money, so there is nothing for us to misuse. And the parts we do run — matching, relaying, indexing — are built so a bad actor cannot secretly tip the scales.

Here's a real example. You buy an item for 100 XOM. The payment does not pass through our hands. A smart contract releases it to the seller only when the conditions are met. Every step is a rule you can read before you agree.

The honest part

"Trustless" does not mean there is no risk. Code can have bugs, and markets can move. It means you no longer need to trust that we are honest. You can check the rules yourself.
